Understanding New Jersey Tint Laws:
Window tint laws in New Jersey were enacted in 2003. The state’s car tint laws focus on VLT or Visible Light Transmission. VLT means the amount of light that passes through your windows.
Legal tint darkness for Cars:
- Windshield: It is not allowed to tint the windshield.
- Front side windows: It is not allowed to tint the front side windows.
- Back Side windows: Any darkness level is permitted.
- Rear window: Any darkness level is permitted.

- Windshield: It is not allowed to tint the windshield.
